Automatic Rod Straightening Machine for 1/4″ Hex Drill Bits
Upgrade your hardware production with our professional automatic straightening machine, specially engineered for 1/4″ hex drill bits and magnetic extension rods. The machine measures each rod, presses the measured bend and verifies the result on every part, which is what allows a small-rod line to hold a 0.1 mm straightness across a full shift without an operator judging parts by eye.

Machine Highlights
Outstanding precision: straightness accuracy up to 0.1 mm, fully meeting strict quality standards for slender rod workpieces.
Applicable length: designed for workpieces of 100 mm to 300 mm, covering common specifications of drill bits and extension rods.
Reliable performance: equipped with premium brand PLC, servo motors and KEYENCE high-precision detection sensors, ensuring stable long-term operation and accurate positioning.
User-friendly operation: 10-inch touch screen with intuitive operation, supporting program storage and data export for easy production management.
Complete configuration: standard safety protection design plus full sets of spare wear parts, low maintenance cost and high operational safety.

Why Hex Rods Are a Good Fit for Automatic Straightening
A hexagonal cross-section gives a rod excellent torsional stiffness, but the flats also give every bend a preferred direction to hide in: a rod can measure straight across one pair of flats and bent across another. Rotating measurement solves this, because the sensors see the full circumference and the machine corrects the worst direction first. For 1/4″ hex shanks the stakes are functional, not cosmetic: a bent hex shank wobbles in the chuck, transmits impact energy unevenly and wears the bit holder prematurely.
Magnetic extension rods add a second wrinkle, because the magnet seat at one end defines the functional axis the straightness must be measured against. The machine therefore measures the rod relative to the features that locate it in the power tool, not merely between arbitrary centers, which is the difference between a rod that reads straight and one that runs straight in the tool.
Specifying the Machine for a Small-Rod Line
For a line running 1/4″ hex bits and extension rods, three parameters carry most of the decision. The workpiece envelope: this machine spans 100 mm to 300 mm, which covers the common bit and extension rod lengths without paying for range you will never use. The tolerance: 0.1 mm is the number this class of part is usually quoted against, and the machine holds it with margin rather than at its limit, which is what keeps the result stable when the incoming bend population shifts. The duty cycle: small parts arrive in bulk, so the feeding arrangement and the cycle time together determine real throughput, not the cycle time alone.
The control side matters more on small rods than on large ones, because the corrections are smaller and the measurement has to resolve them confidently. A PLC with stored programs means each product variant runs from its own recipe, including press points, tolerance and sorting limits, and the data export gives the quality record without a separate logging effort. When several bit and rod variants share the machine, the recipe changeover is a selection on the touch screen, not a mechanical adjustment.
