About the AMH-B450 Bolt Straightening Machine
The AMH-B450 is the heavy end of the bolt straightening series, sized for bar-shaped workpieces from 20 mm to 50 mm in diameter and 100 mm to 1200 mm in length. Where the smaller machines concentrate on fasteners, the B450 addresses thick bolt stock, steel rods and bar blanks — parts where a bend costs serious machining time and material if it is not corrected before turning, grinding or induction hardening. One reference configuration processes steel rods of 25 mm diameter × 1000 mm length together with 16 mm × 500 mm rods on one line.
Built for Heavy Bar Stock
Working at 20–50 mm diameters and up to 1.2 m lengths puts different demands on a straightening machine than fastener work: workpiece weight, support spacing and correction force all scale up. In its reference configuration the AMH-B450 line consists of the loader, the straightener unit and a steel collecting table; another configuration adds a steel bar conveyor, manipulator and bar unloader around the straightener for continuous flow. The engineering question for bar stock is never only “can it straighten” but “can it handle the parts all day” — the structure, clamping and transport of the B450 are dimensioned for that continuous duty.
Why Straightening Belongs Before Machining
Bar stock arrives at the machine shop with bends from rolling, cutting, heat treatment and storage. Feeding bowed bars into turning or grinding has three costs: extra stock removal to clean up the run-out, interrupted cuts and chatter that wear tooling, and residual-stress movement after machining that breaks tolerance on the finished part. Straightening the blank first means the machining operation starts from true geometry — less removal, steadier cuts, more predictable finished dimensions. For parts going on to induction hardening or grinding, straightness before these operations is often the difference between a stable and a drifting process.
Suitable Workpieces
- Diameter range: 20 mm to 50 mm
- Length range: 100 mm to 1200 mm
- Reference workpieces: steel rods 25 mm × 1000 mm and 16 mm × 500 mm
- Typical parts: steel bars and rods, shaft blanks, thick bolt stock and other solid round sections within the envelope
For smaller diameters the AMH-B80 and AMH-B240 fastener machines are the better fit; the B450 takes over where part weight and cross-section grow.
Selection Guide for Bar Straightening
- Diameter and weight. 20–50 mm solid stock defines the window; heavier bars within the diameter range should be checked against the handling design in the inquiry.
- Length and support. Bars up to 1200 mm need support and guide concepts that prevent sag from being measured as bend. State your shortest and longest parts.
- Material state. As-rolled, peeled, drawn or heat-treated bars behave differently in correction; the material grade and prior operations belong in the specification.
- Line layout. Loader + straightener + collecting table suits batch operation; conveyor + manipulator + unloader suits flow production. Both patterns are proven on this machine.

CE, Automation and Remote Diagnosis
The AMH-B450 can be engineered to CE standard and to higher automation levels including remote diagnosis and workshop automation — the same options available across the series, applied to heavy bar handling.
FAQ
What is the working range of the AMH-B450?
Workpieces from 20 mm to 50 mm diameter and 100 mm to 1200 mm length.
What bar sizes run in the reference application?
Steel rods of 25 mm diameter × 1000 mm length and 16 mm × 500 mm length, with the line built from loader, straightener unit and steel collecting table.
Can the machine be integrated into a flow line?
Yes — a configuration with steel bar conveyor, manipulator, straightener unit and bar unloader is proven for continuous flow, and workshop automation interfaces are available.
Should bars be straightened before or after machining?
Before. Straightening the blank reduces stock removal, stabilizes the cut and prevents post-machining distortion — especially before grinding and induction hardening.
Is CE available?
Yes, along with remote diagnosis and higher automation levels.
