About the AMH-VB10 Vertical Bolt Straightening Machine

The AMH-VB10 is a vertical bolt straightening machine for long screw bolts with small diameters — parts with a high length-to-diameter ratio such as chipboard screws. On such slender parts, gravity itself works against the process: a long screw held horizontally sags between supports, and the sag becomes indistinguishable from the bend you are trying to correct. The vertical arrangement answers that: the part stands during measurement and correction, so gravity loads it along its axis instead of bowing it sideways, and the full length can be measured and corrected without sag error.

Why Long, Slender Screws Need a Vertical Machine

Small-diameter long screws — chipboard screws being the classic case — are among the hardest straightening parts in fastener production. They bend in coating, drying, packaging and every bulk handling step, and their slenderness makes horizontal support difficult: roll supports that work for a 16 mm bolt deflect a 4 mm × 300 mm screw. Vertical processing removes the support problem at its root. It also matches the parts themselves: long screws are often produced and coated hanging or standing, so a vertical cell integrates naturally with the surrounding line.

The straightening principle is the same as the rest of the series: detect straightness at predefined positions, apply a controlled corrective force to eliminate the internal stress holding the bend, and bring the part to the required straightness.

Suitable Workpieces

  • Workpiece type: long screw bolts with small diameters, typically chipboard screws and comparable slender fasteners
  • Definition: parts whose length-to-diameter ratio makes horizontal handling the limiting factor
  • Related machines: we also provide straightening machines for long round rods — see the bolt & rod straightening range

The defining input for this machine is not a fixed diameter/length table but the slenderness of your part. Send the drawing and we confirm whether the vertical concept or a horizontal machine fits better.

Cell Design and Automation Options

The AMH-VB10 can be designed with an automatic loading unit and automatic unloading unit according to your requirements. For slender screws, the loading concept is decisive for capacity — parts must be presented to the machine singly and oriented, not in tangled bulk. Together with the straightness checking options of the series, the cell verifies each part after correction.

As with the whole series, the machine can be engineered to CE standard and to higher automation levels including remote diagnosis and workshop automation.

Selection Guide: When the Vertical Concept Wins

  1. Slenderness. If your part deforms under its own weight between supports, vertical processing is the technically sound choice.
  2. Part mix. A vertical machine dedicated to one slender family is usually more productive than a horizontal machine compromised to cover everything.
  3. Line integration. If parts arrive standing or hanging from coating or drying, a vertical cell avoids re-orientation steps.
  4. Quality requirement. Because measurement happens in the gravity-neutral orientation, the machine reads the true bend — which matters precisely when tolerances are tight on a long part.

FAQ

What workpieces is the AMH-VB10 designed for?

Long screw bolts with small diameter — chipboard screws are the typical example — and comparable high length-to-diameter-ratio fasteners.

Why vertical instead of horizontal?

On very slender parts, horizontal support sag corrupts the straightness measurement. Vertical orientation loads the part along its axis, so the measured deviation is the true bend.

Can loading and unloading be automated?

Yes — auto loading and auto unloading units are designed to your requirements.

Is the machine suitable for long round rods too?

We also provide straightening machines for long round rods; tell us the workpiece and we match the concept — the series overview lists the horizontal rod machines.

Is CE available?

Yes, together with remote diagnosis and workshop automation options.
